After previous videos on obtaining a temporary or permanent residency, the current one goes all the way. Obtaining a European citizenship in one of the 27 EU countries.
Many countries allow dual citizenship, but some don't. This is a factor to consider.
Some more factors to consider are:
- Time of residency required before the citizenship can be granted
- Language requirements: both the difficulty level of the language and proficiency level demanded
- Cultural integration check: it can vary wildly, include the history or only understanding the institutions and the administration.
The video can be watched on Youtube here or in the window below.
Note: EU citizens can easily establish residency in the member state of their choice, either for studying, working or retiring in a different member state. Obtaining another citizenship still requires obeying the rules below. Some countries automatically grant citizenship to EU citizens born and raised on their territory.
The video orders countries from the hardest to obtain citizenship to the easiest.
Spoiler alert: you find the list ranked below back to front from the easiest to the hardest country.
