The Best Five Regions in Italy to Buy Real Estate

From the channel Save and Invest with Giorgio Loukas we have a video on "The Best Five Regions in Italy to Buy Real Estate".

As usual the video counts down from 5 to 1 with the honorary mentions even up front.

  1. Sicily
  2. Piemonte
  3. Calabria
  4. Umbria
  5. Puglia

Didn't make the top 5

  • Abruzzo
  • Toscana
Honorary mentions for:

  • Veneto
  • Sardegna
  • Lazio
  • Emilia Romagna
In the end that makes 11 regions out of the 20 Italian regions. Usually forgotten are Val d'Aosta and Molise. That leaves 7 regions unmentioned: Campania and Basilicata in the South. Le Marche in Central Italy and Liguria, Lombardia, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino Alto Adige up North.

So here you have the video:

The Worst Five Regions in Italy to Buy Real Estate.

If there are 5 'best' regions with quite a few honorary mentions, there must also be five regions that are not so favourable. Well on the same channel we find such list:

1 Basilicata
2 Trentino Alto Adige
3 Valle d'aosta
4 Friuli-Giulia-Venezia
5 Campania

The argumentation differs by region and the author has some difficulties recognizing that Friuli-Giulia-Venezia is actualy in this list... and Val d'aosta wasn't simply forgotten: it is in the 'to avoid' list.
That leaves us with a neutral stance on Molise in the South, on Le Marche in central Italy and on Lombardia and Liguria in the North. Classifications as those in the video are not 'sacrosanct'. Do your own due dilligence on where you would like to live or own a vacation home. But at least now you know where real estate is overpriced and where it is affordable.
